My work integrates three themes - journey, landscape, and memory - that,
generated through personal experience, embrace a universal view.
A graduate of the BFA program at Oregon College of Art & Craft in Portland, Oregon, Mary Wells works in three distinct mediums: paint, paper collage and book arts. Wells' paintings are large realistically rendered acrylic landscapes painted on birch panels. Wells' paintings capture a sense of the physical place, but are colored by memories, both personal and historic. Landscape is also a consistent subject in her collages. Wells' work in book arts, which ranges from traditionally bound hardcase books to unique 3D structures, is based on personal experience and tied to a sense of place.
